A criticism of Kant’s Categorical Imperative is its inability to consider the context or consequences of an action to determine the moral weight of such an action. They must also have a coordination relationship and authority with those to whom the managers of IT organizations report.

The weakness in each of the arguments is that neither Hauptman nor Constant provide a method for determining how to formulate the morally correct action for these similar cases. I will then argue that moral philosopher Alan Gewirth has resolved the limitations of Kant and Dowd and those of Constant and Hauptman, while preserving the strengths of each of their arguments.
